Motionless Wonderings

I’m just sitting here wondering…

…where the copies of my books are in their journey through time.  Especially the copies of DARK EXCURSIONS once owned by two people who have since died.  Are the books collecting dust at a thrift store or are they boxed up in an attic, just waiting to be discovered by a future freak like me?

…if Andy Milligan’s lost films will ever be found.  Maybe I really should research old Nebraska theaters and drive-ins just to make certain TRICKS OF THE TRADE, THE DEGENERATES and other titles aren’t lurking in a forgotten basement.  Seems unlikely, but if one German-language reel of THE FILTHY FIVE can be found, then anything is possible!

…what will the person who goes through my film collection after I’m dust think of my mental state.  I mean, how can I fully explain Ed Wood, John Waters, Andy Milligan and puppet porn Never mind the films I haven’t been gutsy enough to blog about…yet.

…if the 2-in-1 physical copy of  DARKENING STURGEONS and HAUNTING STURGEONS will ever see the light of day.  I’m slowly working on it.  Very, very slowly because I question how much interest for such a book exists.

…if I’ll ever do another video for The FreakOptic Files Doing one takes a lot of time and effort and I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

…if I’ll purchase the blu-ray of COCAINE BEAR upon its release.

…if I should’ve blogged about something more interesting than these wonderings.

Thank you for reading or listening to my half-blind words.

DARK EXCURSIONS (my dream cast)

Gill of Realweegiemidget Reviews is getting ready to read my modern take on gothic romance, which is exciting and a bit nerve-wracking for me.  That’s how I always get when someone announces they are reading one of my books.  Anyhoo, she asked which actors I would cast if DARK EXCURSIONS became a film or TV series.  This wasn’t the easiest question to answer, but I thought I would give it a shot.

So, for better or for worse, meet my dream cast of DARK EXCURSIONS…

Dark excursions by john l. Harmon

(NOTE - age of actors may not completely fit with characters

Anapola Van Der Van - Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman

(I had her in mind as the manipulative matriarch while writing the book)

Crop HoppinsColin Farrell

Colin Farrell

(He would exude the former stable boy’s roguish charm and sizzling sensuality)

Cheryl Van Der Van - Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart

(This RIVERDALE actor would perfectly circumnavigate Cheryl’s emotional growth as she confronts the past)

Dinkel - Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson

(I think this HUNGER GAMES actor would easily express the one-armed gardener’s strength and vulnerability)

Xylem Smith - Timothy Olyphant

Timothy Olyphant

(For some reason, his role in SANTA CLARITA DIET made me imagine him as the busy businessman)

Luchia Diego-Smith - Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek

(She would expertly bring out the fierceness and loneliness of this rich housewife)

Ivan Kramnik - Alexander Skarsgård

Alexander Skarsgård

(He would be brazen, intimidating and sexy as the Russian tennis instructor)

Dr. Jannette Parker - Gal Gadot

Gal gadot

(Intelligent, statuesque and mysterious…this WONDER WOMAN actor would be perfect as the psychiatrist harboring a life-altering secret)

Father John Francis - Tobey Maguire

Tobey Maguire

(Well, if I can’t play the less than faithful priest, then the SPIDER-MAN actor will do nicely)

Sister Beatrice Cross - Naomi Watts

Naomi watts

(I pictured her as this sweet, but determined nun when writing the book)

Peter Obelisk - Ross Lynch

Ross lynch

(This CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA actor looks the part of Xylem’s chauffeur, at least in my mind)

Sheriff Mick Webb - Sam Rockwell

Sam Rockwell

(He would bring sympathy to this sad, down on his luck lawman)

Well, that’s my dream cast.  Hope you found it interesting.  There are a few more characters, but I’ll let Gill and other readers cast them.

Leap Day Nutter List (February 2020 in Hindsight)

My February in a nutshell...

I predominately poured my creative juices into this blog, which was extremely satisfying.

I had my annual (dystopian-future sounding) wellness check and the doc said I'm as healthy as a horse, but tragically refrained from calling me a stallion.

I didn't make as much progress on A STUDY IN ORANGE as I had hoped, but that's ok.

I tasted the delicious difference in French chocolate, but a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup still makes me weak at the knees.

I think I'm finally coming to terms with, and more fully enjoying, listening to my tablet read e-books to me, but it will never be the same as reading with my own eyes.

I will probably spend my extra day in February posting this list and continuing to watch DARK SHADOWS.  My sister and I are on the final stretch of the gothic soap with less than 200 episodes to go.

Thank you for reading or listening to my half-blind words this month.

Will my March blogging come in like a lamb or a lion?  We shall half-see. ;)

P.S. In case you missed my Valentine's Day video, which wasn't quite what I originally planned.  (Those little candy hearts did not want to be crushed!)
