Shimmering 

like a 

Moonlit 

Undulating 

oil spill 

Devouring 

the light 

attempting to 

Penetrate 

My perpetual  

darkness  

Standing  

motionless  

Staring into 

its swirling 

Depth 

Waiting for 

a sign 

Releasing 

your hand 

that was 

Never mine 

I plunge in 

as 

You wave 

good night
