I find it easy to believe that most people who find success nowadays in acting, singing, or even writing have a relative connection to initially open doors closed to ordinary people. Oh, maybe celebs really are discovered at Schwab’s Pharmacy or on the Internet, but I’m sure they are very rare exceptions. I don’t know how Emma Roberts was discovered, but you can’t tell me being the daughter of Eric Roberts, and especially being the niece of Julia Roberts didn’t play a huge part!

Sorry, Chanel, but season two doesn’t deserve an award! |

SCREAM QUEENS is a scream and the true Ryan Murphy teen follow-up to POPULAR. (gives GLEE a sideways stink eye) Hilarious, creepy and absolutely bonkers, SCREAM QUEENS is bound to joyously entertain and offend. So, if you’re an Emma Roberts or Ryan Murphy completist or you enjoy killer comedies, slip on some earmuffs and serve up some cottenball appetizers because SCREAM QUEENS may be the television series for you!
See, even the DVD knows who’s at the center of the series! |

STURGEONS (the complete serials) is a modern take on 1950’s sci-fi/horror films and what happens after the end credits roll…
Hollywood is the nearest thing we have in the 21st century to a medieval craft guild where the acting gigs get passed down from one generation to the next.
ReplyDeleteI was not aware that Eric Roberts had a daughter in the business, but then, no surprise there. Like Nic Cage, the mountain of drek in Eric's resume hides a a fair amount of talent -- his portrayal of Dorothy Stratten's murderously jealous husband in Star 80 is awesomely chilling.
It looks like Emma has scored a jackpot with all her appearances in those delirious Ryan Murphy shows. More power to her!
Emma Roberts is worth checking out, especially in a Ryan Murphy production! Now I will have to check out Star 80! Thanks, Brian!

ReplyDeleteJust seen and enjoyed Feud, so this may well find itself on the list for watching thanks to your review. How can leggy Julia Roberts be related to a 5ft 2 woman??? the mind boggles with genes. She does sound like a forboding character for me (at exactly 5) feet... and loved your sneaky pun in the intro.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Gill!
DeleteI was surprised during my research at how wee Emma is compared to her more statuesque aunt! If you enjoyed Feud, then you might get a kick out of Scream Queens!
Delightful post, John. I gave up on AHS after Hotel, but based on your review, I need to check it out. That casting is something else!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barry! I actually only saw the first episode of Hotel, but I have enjoyed most of the following seasons.
DeleteI have never seen this show but it looks fun. Emma's got so much more to her than silly comedy, so it's nice that she gets to flex a little bit here. Thanks again for joining the blogathon, John--this was great! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rebecca! Scream Queens isn’t for everyone, but I love it! Thanks for a fun blogathon!
